Jeanne's Grave and Gravestone

Jeanne's grave marker is actually a system of stones  These stones have been hand carved by Karin Sprague.

The inner stone represents Jeanne's soul.  Containing the fundamentals of her life. The outer stone represents who she was to the world: mother, wife, sister, daughter, and perhaps most important, friend.  These words defined her to the world.

The outer stone also represents who was protecting her during her life.  Her last 10 years, her soul was protected by the very people that defined who she was.  It is about Jeanne however, in that the words are from her perspective.  She was a mother, she didn't just have children.

The space between the stones represents God's light.  God's love was the conduit between Jeanne's soul and her definition to the outside world.  One of Jeanne's favorite hymns was "I want to walk as a child of the light"by Kathleen Thomerson,  and she did walk through life that way.  The space between the stones lets God's light, which came through Jeanne's life, shine through.

Finally, these stones were hand carved by Karin Sprague.  It's important to me that these stones are more than a  silent monument to Jeanne's life, but they are artwork, from another human being.
